We are all at sixes and sevens about the homeless, the challenges and threats and outright murder around the world. Take care of yourselves. . . tell your family you love them. . . hug your friends. . . listen to your favorite music, read your favorite poet. Take some time for yourself. . . it’s ok to be selfish once in a while.

Thanksgiving is nearly upon us, and I want to wish all peace and joy and know you join me in praying for the families and friends of those murdered in Paris. We all feel a great sense of loss. We cannot let the murderers stop us — they must not stop us — from living our lives. We will stand shoulder to shoulder with those in Paris. It is a war we are facing.

I didn’t know at the time what a pioneer Lela Swift was. All I knew was she was a loving force with a wonderful smile who took me by the hand and guided me through my first role on television. I loved her. I never thanked her enough. Women are still fighting, and can find never-ending inspiration from dear Lela.
